With just four games of the Scottish Premiership still to play, it is well and truly game on, with Celtic just three points behind leaders Hearts, and a game against the Edinburgh outfit on final day.
At one stage, it looked like a fifth successive league title, and 14th in the last 15 years was out of reach, but three wins out of three in April has helped reduce the deficit from five points to just three.
Last month, Martin O’Neill’s side won 2-1 away to Dundee, before 1-0 and 3-1 home wins against St Mirren and Falkirk respectively – either side of a Scottish Cup semi final victory against the former – has helped set up a grandstand finish to the season, with the title still potentially in the team’s hands.
As a result of this much needed form in April, manager Martin O’Neill has been named the Scottish Premiership manager of the month. Well deserved, you have to say – with both Hearts and Rangers slipping up.
Should the 74-year old win the manager of the month for May, we can probably assume that Celtic have won the league, so here is hoping that this isn’t the final time he wins the award this season.
