Cesar Azpilicueta could get his dream move back to Spain one year on from

Sources including Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard are reporting that Cesar Azpilicueta is in “advanced talks” to join Atletico Madrid this summer.

The club captain was forced to stay a year ago when Barcelona came calling simply because Chelsea were short at centre back – and as you’d expect from a man who has proved himself a professional beyond reproach time and again, he didn’t utter a word of complaint, he just put his head down and got on with it.

But after 500 appearances at the club, we want to see the defender treated with the respect he deserves.

Understandably, his loyalty will be rewarded this summer by the club. According to Kinsella’s piece, they will allow him to walk away a year early from his contract and sign for Atletico. As much as we will miss him, it’s great to see a club legend treated with the respect he deserves.
