Only one game remains in the Champions League this season. Arsenal and PSG will come to blows in a real clash of the titans in the final – but who made it into our semi-finals team of the round?
We’ll only be looking at games that took place in the second leg of the semi-finals – we already did a best XI for the first leg of the round. With that out of the way, let’s begin.
David Raya was the only goalkeeper out of the four who managed to maintain a clean sheet – as such, the Spanish international earns a spot in this XI practically by default.
That’s not to say he isn’t deserving of his place – far from it. Raya had plenty of work to do against Atletico Madrid, making a number of saves and remaining composed throughout.
Atleti might have crashed out of the competition, but they weren’t entirely unimpressive. Marc Pubill, despite being on the losing side, put forth a respectable effort.
He managed to keep Leandro Trossard quiet, finishing the game with a 100% tackle success ratio – will we see him in Spain’s 2026 World Cup squad?
Another textbook display from William Saliba – he may well be the best central defender in the world right now.
The French international made eight clearances against Atletico – more than anyone else in the game – and kept a clean sheet in doing so.
Saliba was outstanding against Atleti, but Gabriel was every bit his equal. Together, they have formed the most formidable defensive partnership in the world.
With seven clearances and a tackle success ratio of 100%, Gabriel did not let anyone beyond him on Tuesday evening.
Nuno Mendes put forth a complete full-back performance against Bayern Munich. PSG were set up to defend, but the Portuguese international still made a nuisance of himself down the left flank.
He gave Konrad Laimer plenty to think about, completing four dribbles against him and preventing Bayern from creating anything in the final third.
Declan Rice was fantastic once again against Atletico Madrid. Dictating the tempo and breaking up their play in midfield, Rice looks to be in excellent form ahead of the World Cup.
There is no midfielder in the world with a more polished skillset than Rice at the moment – there is nothing he cannot do in the middle of the park.
Joshua Kimmich put in an herculean effort for Bayern Munich against PSG – in the end, it wasn’t enough, but he deserves commendation for it.
He played 78 accurate passes in the game, more than anyone else on the pitch. Kimmich is still amongst the best midfielders in the world – we’ll see him featuring for Germany at the World Cup.
While Joao Neves’ attacking acumen was on show in the first leg of Bayern Munich and PSG’s semi-final clash, the second leg showed how strong he is from a defensive perspective.
Despite being just 21 years of age, Neves handled himself like a veteran in this game. Always looking to break up play, he was vital in securing PSG’s spot in the final.
Bukayo Saka also featured in our most recent Premier League team of the week – Arsenal’s talisman is absolutely on fire right now.
The 24-year-old scored the only goal of the game in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Atleti. It was far from his most spectacular effort, but he showed great instincts to latch onto the lose ball and poke it beyond the ‘keeper before any defenders could stop him.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was at his best once against against Bayern. He didn’t get the support he had in the first leg, but was still able to keep the Bavarian giants on their toes.
He found Ousmane Dembele for the first goal of the game – his ball-carrying ability is second to none in the world right now.
Ousmane Dembele wasn’t as lively as he was in the first leg, like many of PSG’s attacking stars, but was still on hand to net a decisive goal.
Showing great timing and anticipation, he found the gap in Bayern’s defence and turn the ball home early on – the Bundesliga champions mounted a late comeback, but it was too little, too late.
