This is the Chelsea confirmed lineup for their Premier League clash with Newcastle in the early Sunday kick-off. This is a pivotal clash in the race for Champions League football, particularly after the results from Manchester City and Aston Villa. The Blues rested a number of players on Thursday in the Europa Conference League which could be an indication of who is going to start this one.
Rob Sanchez starts in goal with a back four of Moises Caicedo, Trevoh Chalobah, Levi Colwill, and Marc Cucurella. Romeo Lavia partners Enzo Fernandez in defensive midfield while Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, and Noni Madueke support Nicolas Jackson up front.
While Maresca has made a number of changes from the win over Djurgardens, this is the set best Premier League eleven as it was last week. The back four which features Caicedo inverting to join Lavia in midfield has proven to be the most impactful as it allows freedom for Enzo to attack.
We’ve also seen Madueke and Neto switch flanks and look very comfortable with the Englishman dazzling on the left after spending his time with the Blues on the right. With the team on a run of five wins in a row, the manager has clearly opted for the mentality of not fixing what isn’t broken.
Pope, Botman, Schar, Tonali, Gordon, Barnes, Isak, Livramento, Murphy, Burn, Bruno G.
Stay tuned for the Chelsea confirmed lineup. There will be news as well as a discussion on who started, who was dropped, and what tinkering the manager might do to his setup.
