Chelsea currently bare some memories of their previous malpractice in the transfer window with some veteran players currently earning big wages despite not factoring into the squads plans. Based on different reports today, the club could be about to shed as much as £550,000 a week from their wage budget as they look to move on from two older names.

The Cottagers are in talks with a few attackers to come in after their dismal start to the season saw them pick up just two points. Sterling is a multi-time Premier League winner who could add some leadership and winning IQ to the squad. The Englishman is reportedly earning £325,000 a week at Stamford Bridge.

With 123 league goals scored in his career and 75 assists in the competition, he could be worth the risk as any sort of goalscoring output would benefit the defensively solid unit that Marco Silva operates. This is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Ben Chilwell is the other name looking at the exit door. The former Champions League winner has not played much over the past few years due to a mix of injury issues and poor form. His loan spell at Crystal Palace earlier this year saw him fail to make an impression and he’s currently without a clear destination.

According to Bobby Vincent, the Blues could send the England international to Strasbourg on deadline day. He would likely get some game time in Ligue 1 and showcase the abilities that made him a European champion. Chilwell reportedly earns £225,000 a week in wages which means he will have to take a pay cut.
