Out-of-favour Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku has been offered to Inter Milan, but there are two major obstacles to a deal.
Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908, identify the fee as well as the Frenchman’s wages as issue for the Nerazzurri.
Christopher Nkunku is the latest name to emerge as a potential transfer target for Inter Milan in attack.
There is no doubt that the 27-year-old is on the way out at Chelsea.
Therefore, Nkunku could present an opportunity for Inter to bolster their attack with a player who has qualities they don’t currently have in their squad.
According to the Corriere, it is Nkunku’s representatives who have approached Inter. They alerted the Nerazzurri to the possibility of a transfer.
The Corriere report that Inter are seriously intrigued by the prospect of signing Christopher Nkunku.
The Nerazzurri do see the former RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain forward as a player who could offer something different and facilitate their transition to a 3-4-2-1 shape.
However, a deal for Nkunku certainly would not be cheap.
First of all, there is the matter of a fee. Even though Chelsea are keen to offload Nkunku this summer, they don’t want to do so for a fee under €45-50 million.
That would almost certainly be out of Inter’s price range.
And Chelsea are not currently open to allowing Nkunku to leave on loan.
Then, there would also be the issue of Nkunku’s wages. The France international currently earns €6 million net per season with Chelsea.
