Chelsea should 'rip' striker back from Bayern and use him with Cole Palmer claims pundit

Paul Merson has been speaking about Chelsea this morning, and he’s got a bee in his bonnet about Nicolas Jackson.

Nicolas Jackson’s move to Bayern Munich on loan didn’t end up working out for the striker or for Chelsea. The Blues simply didn’t bring in a better player to replace him. But that doesn’t change the fact that many fans were pretty happy with a chunky loan fee for a player who was frustrating at the best of times.

Paul Merson thinks the club should do all they can to persuade Jackson to stick around next season.

Nicolas Jackson could leave Chelsea this summer

“[Chelsea] need players and they need a clear-out. I would get Nicolas Jackson back, I would rip Jackson back,” Merson stated in quotes picked up on Football365. His long-standing point that Jackson makes Cole Palmer better was central to his thesis:

“I’ve said it before, Palmer made Jackson and Jackson made Palmer. Palmer’s not on that plane [to the World Cup] because Jackson’s not been there.”

It’s a little simplistic but we can see where he’s coming from. The simply fact is they have to get someone better than Jackson before they can consider letting him go again.

Two Chelsea players could leave this summer after just one year at the club – it’s a sign of how badly wrong things have gone.

Jose Mourinho is going to be the new Real Madrid manager – and he’s got his eyes on one player from Chelsea in particular.
