We bring you the latest team news and our attempted predicted lineups for Chelsea vs Newcastle in the Premier League this weekend. The fixture will see two teams aim to get their performance levels up after taking part in highly intense Champions League fixtures in midweek. The Magpies have a slight advantage having played a day earlier and staying in England while the Blues travelled to Paris on Wednesday.
Date: Saturday, March 14
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Kick-off: 17:30 GMT
Last meeting: 2-2 (December 20, 2025)
Referee: Andy Madley
There is a better picture than usual for Liam Rosenior with only five potential absentees based on PremierInjuries. Mykhailo Mudryk is on a long-term suspension with Levi Colwill missing the entire season with an ACL tear so far. Pedro Neto has been given a suspension by the governing body for pushing a ball boy.
There are two smaller problems to Estevao and Jamie Gittens with the status of the latter being more up in the air as the manager only noted that he is “back involved”. The rest of the squad should be able to play with nobody going off visibly hurt against Paris Saint-Germain.
Eddie Howe doesn’t have as many injuries as he’s dealt with in recent weeks but he does still have some core problems to deal with. Per PremierInjuries, he will most notably be without star midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and won’t have him available until after the international break.
Emil Krafth is out for the season with Fabian Schar and Lewis Miley also being sidelined. The rest of the squad is fit but rotation could be needed as their intense style can wear players down when they play in Europe in midweek.
Based on recent selections and player availability, we expect the side to line up in a 4-2-3-1 with some rotation in goal and the defensive line.
