These are the confirmed lineups for Chelsea vs PSG as they meet in the final of the Club World Cup. This is a clash of two UEFA title holders as the Europa Conference League holders take on the winners of the Champions League. It’s been a fairly straightforward path here for both teams who suffered one defeat on matchday two and have kicked on ever since.
Robert Sanchez starts in goal with a back line of Malo Gusto, Tevoh Chalobah, Levi Colwill, and Marc Cucurella. Reece James is in as a defensive midfielder alongside Moises Caicedo. Enzo Fernandez pushes up as the number ten with Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto out wide supporting Joao Pedro as the striker.
There’s one very interesting move as James/Caicedo goes out as the pivot. This will allow James to play the defensive role while giving Caicedo more freedom to roam between boxes and mark key players. Palmer will move out wide to facilitate Enzo moving forward, something we’ve seen tested throughout this tournament.
Tosin Adarabioyo can feel hard done by at the back as he misses out for Chalobah who may have gotten the nod due to his ability to play as a wide CB. This is of course Enzo Maresca, he likes to throw in a surpise or two so don’t be suprised if players are set up in unusual roles.
Gianluigi Donnarumma starts in goal behind a back line of Nuno Mendes, Lucas Beraldo, Marquinhos, and Achraf Hakimi. Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha, and Joao Neves makes up the midfield three. Up front is the usual task force of Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele, and Desire Doue
If it isn’t broken don’t fix it. Unliks his counterpart, Enrique doesn’t like to move things around unless needed so has used a very limited squad in this competition to much success.
Stay tuned for the Chelsea vs PSG confirmed lineups. There will be news for both eleven’s as well as discussions on who started, who misses out, and any adjustments the coaches could make.
