Inter president Beppe Marotta has praised coach Cristian Chivu and reiterated the club’s need for a new stadium, as he reflected on the Nerazzurri’s future.

The 67-year-old spoke to Sky Sport, via FCInterNews, ahead of Saturday evening’s game against Cagliari.

Marotta Praises Chivu Work So Far At Inter

Asked about Chivu, Marotta was clear in his support for the Romanian coach.

“Chivu surpasses expectations,” he said.

“We already knew his profile as a great player and coach in the youth sector, and he also had results at Parma.

“He is suited to our model for a new cycle.

“Evaluations from those outside are a little rash. In every aspect, Chivu goes well beyond a pass mark, so we are happy.”

Marotta also reflected on his years of experience, stressing the importance of teamwork.

“We are a club that works very well together. Decisions are always collective.

“A modern club must decide collegially.”

The Inter chief then turned to the stadium debate.

“I agree that Milan needs a new stadium, and so do Inter and Milan,” Marotta explained.

“We want to turn this necessity into an asset for the city.

“If not, we will need to fill that need ourselves. In the last 10 years only two new stadiums have been built in Italy, compared to 53 worldwide.”
