Bayern Munich are not interested in signing Tottenham forward Son Heung-min

Tottenham Hotspur could look to part ways with Son Heung-min during the summer transfer window.

The South Korean international has had a difficult campaign in North London, alongside a whole host of stars under Ange Postecoglou. The versatile forward’s inconsistent performances have raised question marks about his long-term future at White Hart Lane and whether or not he should remain in the squad moving forward.

Despite his dip in form, Son Heung-min has played regularly for Ange Postecoglou’s side. He has made 42 appearances across all competitions, registering 11 goals and 12 assists thus far. However, the Tottenham skipper has been unable to provide the consistent performances that fans expect.

This has been of great frustration to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful, who have seen their side slip to 14th in the Premier League with Son as the team’s leader and talisman. Ahead of the summer transfer window, the 32-year-old has been heavily linked with an exit from the club.

Spurs are willing to sell the South Korean star in the summer to make room for new signings. It has been reported that cash-rich Saudi Pro League clubs Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad are looking to sign the forward for £50 million.

The Tottenham ace has been tentatively linked with Bayern Munich as well. It is believed that Bayern view Son as a potential replacement for Thomas Muller, who is set to bring his glittering career at the Allianz Arena to an end this summer. The Bavarian giants announced last week that Muller will be departing at the end of the season.

However, reliable Bild journalist Christian Falk has rubbished rumours of Son to Bayern. He insists that there is nothing going on between Bayern and Son, completely dismissing the speculation.

“That’s not true,” Christian Falk said on the Bayern Insider Podcast when asked about the rumour.

“And I’d like to know if we’ve ever given Fichajes a true. So, this rumour is completely made up again, FC Bayern can’t afford it, FC Bayern doesn’t want to afford him.”

It is true that Son has been far from his usual best and has shown little sign of improvement as the season has progressed. The forward’s output of seven goals and 10 assists in the Premier League may sound positive, but it is far from the usual standards he has set in the Premier League for many years.

Heading into the final year of his existing contract, Son’s sale does appear to make sense at N17. If the club bosses can bring in a sizeable fee for the South Asian, it could allow for multiple new signings to come in during the summer. Reports suggest Tottenham want Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo as Son’s potential replacement ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
