Over the years, Christian Pulisic has become an icon for the U.S. Men’s National Team. He has also played a strong role for A.C. Milan this season and throughout his club career.

As the USMNT roster announcement for the upcoming Gold Cup approached, there was speculation about whether Pulisic would be included. The tournament is set to begin on June 14, taking place across 14 stadiums and 11 metropolitan areas in the U.S. and Canada.

On Wednesday night, Doug McIntyre, a soccer reporter for Fox Sports, shared some disappointing news for American fans:

"Christian Pulisic won’t be on the roster when #USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino names his 26-player squad on Thursday for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup, multiple sources tell ⁦@FOXSoccer."

⁩Pulisic’s omission has sparked conversation about his health following back-to-back long seasons in Europe and a steady load of international play. Over the last two years, he’s logged nearly 5,000 minutes in Serie A action alone.

Reports suggest he’s been dealing with a chronic hip flexor issue, raising even more questions about his long-term fitness and his role in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Coach Mauricio Pochettino will announce the full 26-man squad on Thursday and will address media questions later that day. Pulisic’s absence is expected to be a major topic of discussion.

Other key players also missing from the 2025 Gold Cup roster include Gio Reyna of Borussia Dortmund and Juventus teammates Weston McKennie and Tim Weah. All three were part of the USMNT squad during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

At just 20 years old, Pulisic became the youngest captain in U.S. Men’s National Team history, leading the squad against Italy in a friendly. Later, in March 2019, he became the youngest American to reach 10 international goals—doing so at 20 years and 189 days old.

The United States will kick off its Gold Cup campaign on June 15 against Trinidad and Tobago in San Jose. They’ll then face Saudi Arabia on June 19 in Austin, Texas, before wrapping up Group D play against Haiti on June 22 in Arlington, Texas. The tournament final is scheduled for July 6 in Houston.
