Manchester United’s midfield rebuild remains one of the club’s biggest priorities despite agreements already in place for Ederson to arrive from Atalanta.

The Red Devils continue to be linked with West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes.

United are expected to sign at least one, and potentially two, more midfielders before the summer window closes as Michael Carrick shapes his squad for the new season.

A lot of the attention has been on senior additions.

However, Manchester United have also been keeping a close eye on some of the brightest young talents in world football.

One of those prospects has now committed his future to his current club.

Club Tijuana confirmed on their official website that highly-rated teenager Gilberto Mora has signed a new three-year contract and will wear the iconic No.10 shirt.

The Mexican youngster has continued his rapid rise ahead of what promises to be a huge year for his career.

At just 17 years old, Mora is expected to become the youngest player at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

This adds even more attention to one of Mexico’s brightest talents.

Manchester United’s admiration for the midfielder is not new either.

Last October, reports claimed United were among a number of European giants monitoring Mora’s progress.

Barcelona and Real Madrid were also interested in the gifted playmaker.

The latest contract does not necessarily end speculation over his future, particularly with a ‘clearly structured exit mechanism’ included as part of the agreement.

United have shown a willingness to invest in young talent in recent years.

The club also recently secured the long-term future of Kobbie Mainoo as part of its plans to build around emerging stars.

Whether the Old Trafford side make a move remains to be seen, but Gilberto Mora is clearly viewed as one of the most exciting young midfielders in world football.

For now, Club Tijuana have moved to protect one of their prized assets.

They have handed the Mexican wonderkid a new deal and the famous No.10 shirt.
