Conor Gallagher is a divisive player, like so many from the academy.
Some despair at his technical skills, others love his commitment and industry.
He was our highest rated player by WhoScored after the win against Bournemouth, with a 7.7 out of 10.
In a midfield 3 he showed his usual energy, completing 88% of his passes and making two tackles.
His goal got his team rolling in the game, and again it was his willingness to gamble and get in the box which brought rewards.
He will never be the cleanest on the ball, but with Enzo Fernandez providing that role, Gallagher can do what he’s best at. With Mason Mount out, he’s really capitalizing, and we’re sure he will play from the start in our next game.
It should be a good end to the season for him, raising further questions about whether selling him is really the best plan for this summer.
