Fabrizio Romano has mentioned that the new Chelsea manager could be key to the future of midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
The Argentine international was crucial for Chelsea on Sunday afternoon as they beat Leeds United 1-0 to advance to the final of the FA Cup. And he has often proven to be an important player for this team.
Of course, there has been many ups and downs, but his overall form has been very good lately, and he is the one who wears the captains armband in the absence of Reece James, which is unfortunately quite often due to his regular injury issues.
There’s been a lot of talk about Fernandez potentially leaving Chelsea in the summer, with clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester City mentioned as possible suitors. But could he still stay at Chelsea?
In quotes picked up on X, Romano said on his Podcast this week on the Enzo Fernandez situation:
“New manager could be important; for example if the new manager tries to talk to Enzo to keep him, there is also a contract discussion between Chelsea and the player, where no agreement has been able to be found on salary since December 2025. Let’s see what happens in these next few weeks.”
In the new manager hunt, sources all over are reporting that Chelsea have made contact with Andoni Iraola – and the reasons for that are pretty obvious.
Liam Rosenior called out his players after his last game in charge – and in many ways was proved right by their performance yesterday. Trevoh Chalobah has shrugged off these criticisms.
