Cristian Orozco officially signs for Manchester United

Cristian Orozco has completed his move to Manchester United after months of speculation, question marks, and enquires.

The 18-year-old had signed the formal paperwork to complete a move to Old Trafford in the later stages of last year and formally joined the club at that stage.

His move could not confirmed officially due to his age, however, with Manchester United having to wait until he was 18 to sign him. He turned 18 on 13th July, opening the door to his move to Old Trafford to be completed.

The defensive midfielder has excelled previously for Fortazela, a spell which was responsible for initially catching the eye of United and other top clubs across Europe.

The Red Devils have now took to their official website to confirm the signing of Cristian Orozco ahead of the new season.

He marked an important milestone by making his Manchester United debut for the Under-21s in a pre-season friendly against Altrincham.

The Colombian midfielder came off the bench shortly after completing his move from Fortaleza CEIF, where he had already made his senior debut.

Orozco impressed during that appearance in Colombia, completing every pass he attempted and registering one shot.

His first outing in United colours offered supporters an early look at one of South America’s most highly rated young midfielders.

The teenager will now continue adapting to English football while competing for further minutes during the academy’s 2026/27 campaign.

It was stated: “He will initially be supported by the Academy while he settles into life at Manchester United.”

Diego Leon, who signed for Manchester United last summer, spent the 2025-26 campaign in the academy, a path that United’s newest signing could undertake.

Manchester United’s summer business is now well underway and the club will be looking to make further reinforcements in the coming weeks ahead of the new season starting in August.
