Al Nassr shared an injury update on Cristiano Ronaldo on Tuesday through its official media channels. They did not specify how many matches he could miss nor when he would return.
"Cristiano Ronaldo has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury after the last game against Al Fayha," the Saudi club wrote. "He started a rehabilitation program and will be under evaluation day by day."
Ronaldo, 41, participated in his team's victory against Al Fayha last Saturday, Feb. 28, although he could not score or assist. In fact, the Portuguese missed a penalty in the 12th minute. He was substituted in the 81st minute due to an injury, with Abdullah Al-Hamdan coming in.
Al Nassr had just recovered from a rough patch of four games without winning between Dec. 30 and Jan. 12. They have accumulated 10 consecutive victories since Jan. 17 and are leaders of the Saudi Pro League with 61 points after 24 games, two points ahead of Al Ahli and three ahead of Al Hilal.
Ronaldo is by far the leading scorer of his team in the League, with 21 goals scored this season; in second place is Joao Felix with 13. He also leads in goals + assists with 23 G+A, followed by Felix with 22.
Al Nassr's next matches are against Neom SC at home on March 7, and they will visit Al Khaleej on March 14 before a break that will resume until April 3 with the reception of Al Najma. All these matches are in the Saudi Pro League.
Regarding the Portugal National Team, Ronaldo had a trip scheduled to North America to face Mexico on March 28 and the USMNT on March 31. His participation is now at risk, but nothing is confirmed yet.
