Cristiano Ronaldo's Lawsuit Against Juventus Takes New Turn

Back in the summer of 2018, Cristiano Ronaldo stunned the soccer world by ending his nine-year stay at Real Madrid to join Serie A giants Juventus.

The Portuguese forward stayed in Turin, winning two league titles during his time in Italy. However, it was not all plain sailing for the 40-year-old.

Not least due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, his last year-plus in Serie A was played behind closed doors.

Due to the pandemic, Ronaldo's wages in his final season at the club in 2020-21 were deferred. However, reports of disagreements emerged between the player and club over those payments, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

The outlet reports that the matter is being handled through arbitration and a panel will make the final decision, with a verdict now expected in early 2026.

"On September 24th—two days ago—a further hearing took place following the judge's decision forcing Juventus to pay €9.8 million—half of the amount sought—to their former player," TMW's Andrea Losapio wrote. "The next hearing is scheduled for January 12th, when the decision will be made."

During his three years in Italy, Ronaldo scored 101 goals in 134 games, despite being well into his 30s by that point. Domestically, he had plenty of success, both individually and collectively.

However, many expected the attacker to deliver the Champions League, something he failed to do, being knocked out by Ajax, Lyon and Porto during his time at the club.
