Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is facing the heat for the club’s poor Premier League form this season.

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is coming under intense pressure after guiding the Lilywhites to 14th place in the Premier League. The Danish tactician has struggled to grasp what the club stands for and has often appeared out of sync since making the move to N17 in the summer. The players seem to have lost faith in his system, and it now looks highly unlikely that he will be able to save himself from the sack.

Having won just seven of his 22 Premier League matches in charge of Spurs, it comes as little surprise that Frank currently holds the worst points-per-game ratio of any Tottenham manager in the last decade. His over-reliance on set-pieces and pragmatic approach to games is a clear indication that he has run out of ideas to steady the ship at N17 and turn the club’s fortunes around.

In hindsight, it now seems baffling that the Lilywhites chose to sack a manager who played free-flowing, attacking football in Ange Postecoglou in favour of a head coach with a completely contrasting philosophy in Thomas Frank. The Danish tactician has also failed to stay true to his promise of ensuring his side competes on all four fronts this season. We are still in January, yet Spurs have already been knocked out of both domestic cup competitions, once again ending their hopes of silverware.

Tottenham still remain undecided on Thomas Frank’s future at N17

Tottenham fans have seen enough of Thomas Frank and made their feelings clear when they watched their side fall short against relegation contenders and arch rivals West Ham at home in the Premier League. The Spurs faithful were heard chanting “you’re getting sacked in the morning”, underlining their desire to see the Danish tactician dismissed before the Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund.

A recent report suggested that Frank was on the brink of being sacked at N17 following the embarrassing defeat against the Hammers. The Spurs hierarchy appeared to have reached the conclusion that the former Brentford boss had run his course and was out of his depth at the North London club after securing just two wins from the last 12 Premier League matches.

However, in a surprising turn of events, Sky Sports (via X) are now reporting that Thomas Frank is set to remain in charge of Tottenham for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Borussia Dortmund. The lack of viable managerial options in the market has reportedly forced the club’s hierarchy to give him more time as the North Londoners navigate a difficult transitional period.

The right call by the Tottenham hierarchy?

Tottenham have shown no real signs of progress under Thomas Frank in recent months. Performances have been unconvincing, and the players appear to have stopped fighting to save their manager from the sack. The Spurs faithful have already turned against the Danish tactician, making it clear that he is on borrowed time at the club.

If Tottenham are serious about salvaging their season and securing European qualification, the logical move would be to relieve Frank of his duties before the ‘must-win’ Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund. Given it is a home fixture, the atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has the potential to turn toxic very quickly.

Spurs need to act swiftly and limit the damage before it is too late. At this stage, almost any appointment would be viewed as an upgrade on Thomas Frank. Without further delay, the Lilywhites must begin scanning the managerial market and consider appointing an interim manager if a long-term solution is not available until the summer.
