Crystal Palace pinpoint Eberechi Eze replacement

Crystal Palace looks primed to lose Eberechi Eze this summer. According to a report by Fabrizio Romano, the England winger is scheduled to undergo a medical with Arsenal on Friday.

In recent years, Palace have done a good job of locating young talent and nurturing them into quality Premier League contributors. And Eze is the latest example of that talent pipeline. Now, it would appear they've already earmarked a potential long-term replacement for Eze.

According to an Aug. 21 report from Neil Moxley of Give Me Sport, Tyler Dibling of Southampton has been earmarked as a potential replacement for Eze. Dibling is widely viewed as a "wonderkid" talent — a tag usually reserved for players with world-class upside.

"Crystal Palace will attempt to gazump Everton in the race to sign Southampton star Tyler Dibling by making a £35m-plus bid for the youngster," Moxley reported. "Glasner needs to find an exciting replacement for Eze in the wake of his defection from south to north London. The Eagles are willing to put down £35m straightaway — with other targets and add-ons thought to push their bid towards the £45m that Southampton are holding out for."

Dibling shone for Southampton last season, despite their relegation from the Premier League. He started 20 of his 33 outings, providing two goals. However, it was his willingness to run at the defense and to hit pinpoint forward passes that caught the eye.

According to FBRef, Dibling had 69 progressive carries and 64 progressive passes last season, which, at 19 years old, is highly encouraging.

Palace will have more than enough money to reach an agreement with Southampton. Eze's transfer will undoubtedly act as the bankroll. Still, Palace are smart to get the ball rolling. After all, the transfer window is closing fast, and the sooner they can integrate Eze's replacement, the better.
