Crystal Palace join Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Conor Gallagher

Tottenham Hotspur seem to be focusing primarily on bringing in new offensive reinforcements in this last stretch of the 2025 summer transfer window. This is quite clear from the way they have been linked with players like Eberechi Eze, Morgan Rogers, and Savinho, etc.

Meanwhile, Spurs are also working to strengthen their midfield, and one prominent name with whom they have been linked recently for this purpose is the Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher. A recent report suggested that the North London side is willing to shell out up to £50 million to get the Englishman in their team.

However, as per a report from Fichajes, Tottenham are facing a lot of competition for the Gallagher, as several other Premier League sides are also interested in his signing. Previously, Newcastle United was reported to be one such club interested in the midfielder, but this latest report claims that Crystal Palace is also in the race for the Colchonero midfielder.

Palace looking to strengthen their midfield

The FA Cup and Community Shield holders are looking to strengthen their midfield for the 2025-26 season, and Gallagher would be a attractive option for them, especially as he played there and made a place for himself in the fans’ hearts during the 2021-22 season.

Palace would be particularly keen to land the Atletico Madrid midfielder if they end up losing Eberechi Eze this summer. Such a turn of affairs would also lower Tottenham’s chances of landing the Englishman, as Spurs are now leading the race for Eze.

Gallagher remains an important target for Tottenham

However, Gallagher would bring a starkly different skillset to that of Eze to Tottenham if he ends up signing for them. His characteristic energy would provide a lot of solutions for Thomas Frank, and he will also be able to cover several midfield spots. His defensive contributions would also make him an appealing candidate for the new Tottenham coach.

But for now, it remains to be seen which of these three sides will be able to convince Atletico Madrid and Conor Gallagher to part ways.
