Former Juventus captain Danilo says that he ‘always smiles’ when talking about his former teammate Kenan Yildiz, who he believed is destined for the very top after watching him train with the Bianconeri first-team as a youngster under Massimiliano Allegri.

Danilo, who gave an in-depth interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday, spoke about the moment he first thought that Yildiz was destined for greatness with Juventus.

He says that he would often talk to former Juventus head coach Allegri about the youngster’s potential when he used to come and train with the first-team while still based with the under-23 full-time.

Ex-Juventus captain Danilo: ‘I always smile when I talk about Yildiz’

“I always smile when I talk about Kenan. He trained too well, even during Allegri’s time when he moved between the first team and the U23s. You could see that he had a different level to the others,” Danilo told La Gazzetta dello Sport

“Lots of times after training, I would stop with Max and we’d say, ‘here’s someone who will become really good’. He settled in slowly, he learned to be tougher, to fight and not just be ‘beautiful’, as Max would say.

“Seeing Kenan with Juve’s no.10 shirt and from time to time with the captain’s armband gives me a lot of pressure. He’s a really serious guy with a lot of talent, who works hard, is humble and represents everything that Juventus stands for.”
