Manchester United are continuously aiming for improvement as they look for better performances and finishes in each season.
The club, who came into the current season off the back of an arguably disappointing 2024-25 season, currently are third in the Premier League, with the men’s first-team, following an exceptional comeback from Michael Carrick.
Meanwhile, the women’s side, managed by Marc Skinner, sit second in the Women’s Super League whilst youth sides are also aiming for success in their respective divisions.
But, with the upcoming window closing in, the club have now been linked with moves for players that can improve squads across each of the side’s squads.
For the men’s first-team, this has meant being linked with a move for Newcastle United defender Malick Thiaw whilst also being linked with Sandro Tonali and former United player Scott McTominay.
Now, the club looks to have completed its latest signing with Darren Hughes joining the club according to Training Ground Guru.
The outlet have stated that Hughes will focus on long-term player and coach development, methodology, coaching programmes, competency frameworks, and alignment with the Elite Player Performance Plan.
Meanwhile, Training Ground Guru have stated that Hughes will report to Stephen Torpey, the club’s Academy Director, with the pair have already worked together at both Manchester City and Liverpool.
The role had previously been advertised in February before Darren Hughes emerged as the preferred candidate leading to his appointment.
With this appointment now made, attention could turn towards United to see when they make an official announcement about the appointment and what it brings to the club.
Meanwhile, supporters could redirect their attention towards Hughes to see if he comments on his appointment and on what he can bring to the club, given his prior experience.
