Manchester United have continued to assess their goalkeeping options despite making a major investment in the position last year.

Senne Lammens arrived from Royal Antwerp in September 2025 and quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

His debut campaign proved an immediate success, with the Belgian making 32 Premier League appearances and earning the Signing of the Season award.

However, the situation behind him has been less straightforward, with veteran third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton sidelined by a hamstring injury sustained during pre-season.

Karl Darlow and young goalkeeper Dermot Mee provide further cover, but neither has displaced Senne Lammens as the preferred option between the posts.

With United conceding regularly this season, questions have begun to emerge over whether the club needs stronger competition for the No. 1 position.

Dennis Seimen scouted by Manchester United

That uncertainty has prompted INEOS to explore a move for VfB Stuttgart youngster Dennis Seimen, who has emerged as a potential long-term goalkeeping target for United.

According to Fussball News, the 20-year-old has attracted attention from the Premier League side, with Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid also monitoring his development.

They also report that no formal offers have been made, although several clubs have been monitoring the goalkeeper.

Dennis Seimen has already gained valuable senior experience despite his age.

The German spent last season on loan at Paderborn in the 2. Bundesliga, where he made 34 appearances and kept nine clean sheets.

He returned to Stuttgart ahead of the current season and has since featured four times in the Bundesliga, making 14 saves and recording one clean sheet.

He also made an appearance in the Champions League.

Standing at 1.90m, Seimen is a left-footed goalkeeper whose distribution is considered an important part of his game.

His ability to play out from the back and contribute to building attacks could appeal to United as they assess what they need from a modern goalkeeper.

He has also represented Germany at several youth levels, earning international experience from Under-16 through to Under-20 football.

There is, however, a considerable financial hurdle.

Stuttgart are reportedly demanding between €25 million and €30 million for the youngster, who is already under contract until June 2029.

That puts the Bundesliga club in a strong negotiating position, particularly with several European sides said to be interested.

Lammens’ recent struggles have not erased the impression he made during his first season, but his current numbers underline why United may want greater competition.
