A manager has been speaking this weekend on his fans turning on a player who has already agreed to join Chelsea next summer.

We might not be in a transfer window at the moment, but that does not seem to stop Chelsea doing transfer deals right now!

Over the weekend, we got a ‘here we go’ done deal agreed for Chelsea to sign new striker Emmanuel Emegha from Strasbourg next summer.

The 22-year-old will play out the season at his current club Strasbourg before joining Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea at the end of the season when the summer window is open.

Chelsea look to be getting a very promising striker added to the squad in 2026 and Chelsea fans can get excited for the addition. However, Strasbourg fans are fuming about it.

They have generally been unhappy with their owners anyway, who are of course the same owners as Chelsea – known as BlueCo. But they are even more unhappy at this deal happening and have also been taking it out on the player.

Rosenior reacts

Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior has not held back with his reactions to the Strasbourg fans turning on Emegha this weekend.

He says:

“Emmanuel Emegha was devastated and so was I. I am very disappointed with what I saw. Seeing banners against one of the best players last season is unacceptable. My players deserve much more.

“They have an impeccable mindset and do not deserve this treatment. We are in a pivotal season in which we will play in the European Cup, but it seems that a minority is not happy with these performances.

“It won’t change anything at all because I remain very proud of my players, and Emmanuel Emegha will remain captain as long as he is there. It is still necessary to emphasize that this does not concern everyone, but a minority.”
