Marc Cucurella has become the latest senior Chelsea player to flirt with the idea of a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s players are scattered all over the world for their international break, and Marc Cucurella happens to have gone to his native Catalonia for a game with Spain, who will play at the Espanyol stadium.

Inevitably he’s been asked about a return to his boyhood club Barcelona, and in quotes picked up by Football Espana, he’s admitted it would be tempting.

Cucurella tempted by return to Barcelona in “a few years”

“It would be difficult to refuse. It’s not just about me. I’d have to think about my family. If it happens, it happens, and we’ll see what decision is made,” the full back said.

“You always think about going back. [But] I’m very happy there [in England], and so is my family. I’ll leave it for a few years from now.”

It’s not a flat out denial, but it’s a bit less of a direct flirtation than what Enzo Fernandez has been doing with Real Madrid. At least it sounds we’ll see a few more years of Cucurella at Chelsea before he’s tempted with a return.

Geovany Quenda is a top prospect coming to Chelsea this summer, but he has some unfinished business in Portugal first…

Selling Enzo for £80m would mean minimal book loss for Chelsea, but would say a lot more about their ambitions.
