Liverpool's loss in the Community Shield Final against Crystal Palace has already added pressure ahead of the new season, despite the marquee signings the club made this summer. Liverpool's signings impressed, but they still managed to have issues.

A concern for the Liverpool fanbase is the defense, which has taken a hit in depth this summer. Liverpool manager Arne Slot was vocal when describing his team's defensive mistakes against Palace.

Virgil Van Dijk committed a penalty, which led to Jean-Philippe Mateta's equalizer via the penalty. Another defensive mistake occurred for Liverpool as Palace's second goal involved Ismaila Sarr completely open to shoot on target.

Slot's post-match interview showcased his frustration with his team's defensive approach after analyzing the whole preseason this summer.

Arne Slot Wants Improvement in Defense

After the Community Shield Final, Slot made it clear that the goals conceded over the last month have to improve ahead of the new season. He recalls the lack of clean sheets during previous preseason games this summer.

Arne Slot: "We conceded two goals, which we did against Bilbao, and also a couple more against Milan. It’s something we need to do better. We are conceding at the moment more chances. If you want to compete to win the league, one of the main things is not conceding chances let alone goals."

Liverpool lost 4-2 to AC Milan a few weeks ago and defeated Athletic Bilbao 3-2 at Anfield. Throughout the whole preseason and the Community Shield Final, Liverpool has conceded 11 goals in six matches.

Slot hints that more signings may be needed despite the club making big changes in the first team.

Arne Slot On More Signings

The summer transfer window does not close until September 1, and with the heavy rumors suggesting Alexander Isak's arrival at Liverpool, Slot answers whether the club is finished with transfers.

Slots's response suggests that Liverpool is not done shopping in the summer transfer window, and the club may bring more than one player.

Arne Slot: "We have lost four starters and players that have played a lot for us. Some wanted to leave like Trent. As a result of that, we have to bring players in, and that is what we did. We have to make sure we are ready."
