German giants Borussia Dortmund are said to be eyeing a move for Tottenham Hotspur wonderkid Mikey Moore in the ongoing summer transfer window as they look to bring in their next attacking signing who has the potential to make it big, according to a latest report by Bild.
After they sold highly acclaimed winger Jamie Gittens to the Lilywhites Premier League rivals Chelsea, complemented by a fresh injury to Belgian international Julien Duranville and followed by Johan Bakayoko’s move to RB Leipzig, Dortmund are left with drying options. At this point it’s almost as if they are desperate to reinforce their options out wide in their roster, and this is where Moore comes in and emerges as a prime target for BVB.
The German giants are said to be looking to bring in someone who would cost them under €30m, and this is where 17-year-old Moore fits the bill in terms of budget as well as the potential that he has. But that being said, Tottenham have no plans to lose him on a permanent deal just yet, given how he has always been highlighted as the golden boy at Hotspur Way.
The North Londoners are said to be open to sanctioning a loan transfer, believing that the Lilywhites academy graduate has the potential to end up exploding in terms of value with more minutes under his belt, and this also gives Daniel Levy an opportunity to cash in on him later for a bigger fee or bring him back ready to be integrated into Thomas Frank’s squad.
In terms of his current contract, Moore has a contract at Hotspur Way that runs until 2027, but the German publication insists that the teenager is apparently open to a move away from English shoes as he looks to take the next step in his career and get more playing time under his belt.
To be honest, the interest from Dortmund should not come as a surprise to anyone given that the Bundesliga outfit has a reputation for being that go-to destination for young English attacking-minded players who are looking to take that leap into senior football, and Moore has a lot of examples to follow if he does make the move given how Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham and now Jamie Gittens all found success donning the yellow and black.
And Dortmund would be looking to sell Moore the same pathway, giving him promises of minutes and development.
This is where I think Daniel Levy’s measure will be tested.
