Davide Frattesi has dramatically turned his fortunes around at Inter Milan, where he is now virtually “unsellable.”
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
For months, it had seemed all but inevitable that Davide Frattesi would leave the club this summer.
And had Simone Inzaghi stayed on as coach, that would have been the case. There was a rift between he and Frattesi.
However, Inzaghi decided to leave Inter in search of big money at Al-Hilal. Cristian Chivu arrived to replace him on the Inter bench.
Now that Chivu is in charge, plans have changed completely for Davide Frattesi.
This about face has a lot to do with the role that the Romanian coach sees for the 25-year-old.
Frattesi never quite fit in to the midfield trio in Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 system. The previous coach demanded that his midfielders be capable of just about everything on the pitch.
On the other hand, Chivu is ready to shift to using attacking midfielders. He’ll aim to implement a 3-4-2-1 system with two central players behind one strikers.
And in that formation, Frattesi can shine more.
Therefore, Inter are now considering Frattesi a key part of their project next season. They are working to extend his contract behind the scenes, and would only sell him for a huge offer.
