Dundee FC officially sign Manchester United midfielder

Manchester United completely reshaped their midfield during the summer.

Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba have all arrived to give Michael Carrick three new first-team options in the middle of the pitch.

There had also been a strong expectation before the window that Manuel Ugarte could leave Old Trafford after struggling to establish himself consistently following his move from Paris Saint-Germain.

United were even prepared to accept a financial loss on Ugarte.

However, those plans changed dramatically when the Uruguayan suffered a serious knee ligament injury at the World Cup.

The club subsequently confirmed the problem and committed to supporting his rehabilitation, effectively removing any realistic prospect of a summer departure.

United’s senior midfield business is now finished, but another midfielder has officially left Old Trafford after the English transfer deadline.

Dundee FC announce signing of Manchester United midfielder

Dundee FC have announced on their official website that Jack Moorhouse has joined the Scottish club on loan for the entire 2026/27 season.

The 20-year-old is an academy product who has been with United since childhood, but his development has not been completely straightforward.

Moorhouse was already playing Under-18 football at 15 before a major injury wiped out more than a year of his progress.

He eventually returned strongly enough to earn recognition with the Under-21s and was brought into first-team training in January 2025.

Rather than remaining around Carrington without regular senior minutes, United sent him to Leyton Orient last season so he could experience the physical demands of men’s football.

He made 24 appearances before returning to United on deadline day in February, giving him useful League One experience without yet making a competitive senior appearance for the Red Devils.

Jack Moorhouse can operate as an attacking midfielder or from wider areas, with his ball-carrying one of the qualities that has stood out throughout his development.

Dundee revealed that he had several offers during the window, but he has chosen Scotland as the next stage of his development.
