Paulo Dybala could have joined Inter in 2022 before signing for Roma and the Argentine has a chance to start against the Nerazzurri this evening as Gian Piero Gasperini is not entirely convinced by Evan Ferguson and Artem Dovbyk.
Roma coach Gasperini could start Dybala as a false 9 this evening, when the Giallorossi host Inter at the Stadio Olimpico.
The Argentine spent the international break in Trigoria and is one of the possible surprises in the Roma XI this evening. Not just in an attacking midfielder role, but even as a striker, as Gasperini is not entirely convinced by centre-forwards Ferguson and Dovbyk.
It will be, somehow, a special game for the Argentine who was in talks to join Inter in 2022, at the end of his contract with Juventus.
His agents met with the Nerazzurri director, but despite Dybala’s will to move to San Siro, the two parties eventually failed to reach an agreement.
Roma, on the other hand, shook hands with the Argentine star that summer and the 31-year-old has gone on to score 42 goals in 117 appearances with the Giallorossi.
His contract expires this coming June, but there will be time to discuss his long-term future at the Stadio Olimpico.
