The Houston Dynamo signed free agent defender Sam Vines through 2027 on Friday.

The 26-year-old left back was waived by the Colorado Rapids before the start of the 2026 season.

Vines tallied three goals and seven assists in 116 appearances for Colorado (2018-21, 2024-25).

"Sam is a fullback who brings versatility, quality on the ball and valuable experience at the MLS, European and international levels," Dynamo president of soccer Pat Onstad said. "His technical ability and understanding of the game fit well with the way we want to play. We are excited to welcome Sam and his wife to Houston and look forward to his contributions this season."

Vines played for Royal Antwerp in the Belgian Pro League from 2021-23. Internationally, he has one goal in nine caps for the U.S. Men's National Team.
