Ederson’s future is uncertain amid speculation about his next club ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window which could see plenty of moves across the world as clubs construct their squads for next season.
Manchester United emerged as one club interested in him with the club aiming to identify targets that can help them as they pursue success next season in several competitions including the Premier League and even the Champions League.
The Red Devils, third in the Premier League currently, had potentially looked towards the midfielder as an option to replace Casemiro who is due to leave the club at the end of this season.
Ederson has scored one goal this season in Serie A for Atalanta but his talent lies in his other abilities. He has made 49 tackles and been part of a defense that has kept six clean sheets in the league whilst with the side, helping the club to sit seventh in the Italian top flight currently.
It has now emerged that the midfielder had rejected Manchester United, however, with AS reporting that he instead wants to pursue a dream move to Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish outlet have also uncovered that he rejected other top European sides including Arsenal, Newcastle United, Juventus, and Inter Milan, due to his dream to play for Atletico.
Atletico Madrid still want to sign Ederson, according to the publication, but negotiations are currently are a deadlock with progress still needing to be made if the Spanish club are to secure the deal.
For Manchester United, the news of his dream to play for Atletico hinders a potential move for the midfielder in the summer window.
Plans to use Joshua Zirkzee for a potential swap-deal could now be unlikely whilst the club may also turn their attention towards other targets such as Sandro Tonali and Adam Wharton to try and replace Casemiro this summer.
