Despite a signing looking destined for weeks, the deal for Manchester United to sign Ederson is hanging in the balance.

Despite a full tripartite agreement being reached between all parties, according to Djaameel on X, the deal has completely collapsed at the final hurdle, and Ederson will not be signing for United.

Speaking in June while on international duty for Brazil at the World Cup, Ederson had said on the pending move to Manchester United, “I have to wait. Now I have to enjoy this moment, then we will see.

“Certainly, everything is almost done, but now I to enjoy this moment. This is a wonderful experience and you have to enjoy the most.”

But following a period of silence on the deal not being confirmed, reports that the deal will collapse contrast with a previous narrative.

Manchester United agreed a £35 million (€40.5 million) with an extra £4 million (€4.5 million) in potential add-ons move for Ederson in June, before the 26-year-old jetted off to North America as a late call-up to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

Ederson completed the first part of his Manchester United medical in New York, after not featuring in his nation’s World Cup opener against Morocco, which resulted in a 1-1 draw. Brazil later qualified from their group, and they remain in North America for the tournament as it reaches its Round of 16 stage.

Reports that a deal could collapse are not positive signs for Manchester United. Having found signing their next midfielder a struggle, missing out on Mateus Fernandes and Elliot Anderson, the Red Devils will want to keep a deal intact for a player who has wanted to join the club for some time.

United will hope to clarify the reports, and get a deal done as soon as possible.
