Manchester United star Victor Lindelof is a man in demand this summer

Manchester United are preparing for a summer like no other. A revolution is on the horizon — and it’s long overdue. Sweeping changes are in motion: new signings, bold tactical shifts, and a complete overhaul of the squad. But first, the deadwood must be cleared. Players who have coasted for too long, draining wages and underperforming, are set to be shown the door.

United must focus on offloading fringe players and veterans past their prime, creating both cash flow and space for hungry, talented newcomers. It’s a bold but necessary move if the club hopes to return to its former glory. This summer could define United’s future, let’s see how the roster reshapes.

No lack of options for Victor Lindelof

According to CaughtOffside, nearly eight clubs are interested in signing Victor Lindelof ahead of the summer transfer window. The centre-back is not expected to be offered a new contract by Manchester United, meaning he could leave on a free transfer at the end of the season. Fulham, Everton, West Ham United, and Wolves are among the Premier League clubs reportedly keen on securing his services.

The report also states that Lindelof is keen to remain in England, increasing the chances of a domestic move. However, there is also strong interest from abroad, with Juventus, Inter Milan, and his former club Benfica keeping a close eye on the situation.

The defender has conceded six goals and kept three clean sheets in 11 matches in the Premier League 2024/2025 season. That means when Lindelof is on the pitch, his team has conceded a goal every 73 minutes. Moreover, he has made 1.03 tackles and 1.23 interceptions for every 90 minutes he was on the pitch. Lindelof is also racking up about 6.77 clearances at the same time.

Lindelof has been a steady if unspectacular presence at Manchester United since arriving in 2017. Known for his ball control, versatility across defensive positions, and professionalism, he has often been a reliable figure at the back. While not without the occasional error, Lindelof has made 260 appearances for the club and consistently delivered, particularly in high-pressure matches, earning the respect of the fans.

However, allowing Lindelof to leave on a free transfer in 2025 appears to be a logical decision. His inconsistent performances and recurring injury issues have limited his impact. With United aiming to revamp their defence, clearing wages and freeing up a squad spot will allow the club to invest in younger, more dynamic talent as part of a broader rebuild geared toward long-term success.
