Erik ten Hag officially reunites with midfielder

Erik ten Hag has officially reunited with a midfielder after completed the signing on a permanent deal.

During his time in Manchester, Ten Hag won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup before leaving the club.

One midfielder he brought to United was Manuel Ugarte.

Manchester United completed the signing of the Uruguay international from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024.

The deal was worth an initial £42.3 million, with a further £8.4 million included through potential add-ons.

Ugarte signed a contract until June 2029, with United holding the option to extend that agreement by another year.

However, the midfielder has struggled to meet expectations since arriving at Old Trafford.

He made only 8 Premier League starts last season and has found regular minutes difficult to secure under Michael Carrick.

United are now believed to be open to selling Ugarte, even if doing so means accepting a loss on their original investment.

Ten Hag has now completed a midfield reunion, although it does not involve the 25-year-old returning to work under his former manager.

Ten Hag became FC Twente’s technical director earlier this year after previously being a manager at Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen.

FC Twente have officially confirmed the permanent signing of Ramiz Zerrouki from Feyenoord.

The Dutch club announced the transfer on their official website today.

Zerrouki has signed a four-year contract at De Grolsch Veste after spending last season on loan with Twente.

The 28-year-old previously represented the club between 2016 and 2023 before joining Feyenoord.

He has now returned permanently after making 139 appearances and scoring eight goals across his previous spells.

Ten Hag welcomed the deal and described Zerrouki’s return as an important transfer for both the club and the player.

The former United manager praised the Algeria international’s rare profile, leadership and influence both on and off the pitch.

Zerrouki represented Algeria at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and has earned 56 senior international caps.

He began his career in Ajax’s academy before moving to Twente in 2016 and making his first-team debut three years later.

The midfielder said returning felt familiar and revealed that contact with the club continued even during the World Cup.

He has already resumed training and could feature in Twente’s upcoming European fixture.
