It's difficult to always deliver up to expectations. Erling Haaland had a lot riding on his shoulders last season, and things came crashing down on the striker with Manchester City failing to defend all three Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup titles. Perhaps the FA Cup might have hurt the striker most, with Haaland having the perfect chance to get his team over the finish line.

Haaland touched on Manchester City's defeat in the FA Cup final last season, with the player revisiting some moments from the campaign in a recent interview. When asked if the player would have done anything differently, the striker admitted to making a big mistake that might have cost the team the title.

Haaland admits to making a key mistake

The Norwegian has always been Manchester City's go-to man whenever the team needs a goal. So, fans were left surprised when Omar Marmoush stepped up during the FA Cup final to take a key penalty. With stakes at an all-time high, things got to the striker as he skewered the chance, leaving the team in misery.

Talking about the missed chance, Haaland stated, “I shouldn’t have given it to a new player. So all the responsibility is on me. I put him in this situation. I had a good feeling about him. But I should have taken it myself.”

Erling will look to learn from his mistakes as Pep Guardiola and his men look to turn things around this season. With both Arsenal and Liverpool spending big bucks in the transfer market, it will be interesting to see if the Cityzens are up to the challenge to reclaim their lost throne.
