Rafael Leao produced one of his best performances of the season on Sunday night against Atalanta, and a few days later at the launch of his book he made it clear he sees his future at AC Milan.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) recalls, Leao’s celebration raised some eyebrows as it seemed like an almost angry reaction after the criticism he has received in recent weeks. The winger waved his hands in front of the cameras as if to say, ‘speak, speak’.
He hadn’t celebrated a league goal for five months, a drought which left a void that was inevitably filled with questions. The answer is clear again: Leao belongs to the small group among the best in his role.
Leao made his way through the competition. He arrived at Milan in the summer of 2019 as a promising young player but a talent that needed some refining.
The Scudetto win in 2021-22 saw him crowned as the league MVP, while last year’s Champions League semi-final run was achieved thanks to Leao’s run and assist for Olivier Giroud away against Napoli.
The evolution has been constant, even with some necessary aftershocks. The market valuation followed the same trajectory: Milan bought him for €24, and protected him last year with a €175m release clause.
That release clause serves a double purpose, because it makes it clear that a very high offer would be needed to even bring Milan to the table, otherwise they will keep him locked in a safe rather than in the shop window.
Milan are not willing to open that safe and neither is Rafa, as he was asked questions about his future at the launch of his autobiography ‘Smile’ last night: “Where do I see my future? Here, where I am happy. PSG? I still want to win a lot with this important shirt.”
A combination to open the safe exists: 175, i.e. the number of millions in the clause. It would then be up to Leao to decide whether to leave or not. PSG, who will have to fill the void left by Kylian Mbappé, are among the clubs that could be interested.
The Rossoneri’s strategy is clear: none of the stars are for sale but there are offers that will be listened to, and Sandro Tonali is a practical example. It wasn’t Milan that looked for Newcastle, but Newcastle that arrived with a monstrous bid that allowed the squad to be revamped.
From Milan, Rafa is worthy of a three-figure offer, and an official bid of around €120m may well get their attention. However, it has to arrive first.
The modern transfer market does not offer discounts. In August 2021, Manchester City bought Jack Grealish – four years older than Leao – from Aston Villa for €117m. In January 2023, Mudryk went from Shakhtar to Chelsea for €100m.
These are useful comparisons to establish Leao’s market value, but in the mean time the winger has goals that he wants to tick off with Milan which, in turn, he can achieve thanks to his goals.

Tottenham Hotspur are keen to disrupt Nottingham Forest transfer plans after Morgan Gibbs-White saga Tottenham Hotspur’s return to the Champions League in the 2025/26 season has filled us with pride and hope. By defeating Manchester United in the Europa League final, we not only won a trophy but also proved ourselves once again on the big stage of Europe. The new season has started with the appointment of Thomas Frank, who will try to bring the same stability he showed at Brentford to Spurs. This time, the club have entered the transfer window with an aggressive mindset, and the presence of Mohammed Kudus and Mathys Tel has made our attacking line more dangerous. Tottenham has progressed in the last few years, but always remained one step away. The team never managed to stabilise during the time of Antonio Conte and after that. Now, under the leadership of Thomas Frank, the team have embarked on a new path. The arrival of a player like Mohammed Kudus makes it clear that Spurs no longer want to just play for a top-four finish; they want to win trophies. However, amid that build-up, an old name and a new controversy have made headlines around the club. Gibbs-White row and Jacob Ramsey discussed Spurs sent in a £60 million offer for Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White. Spurs thought they had activated a release clause, but Forest threatened legal action, saying Spurs had obtained the information incorrectly. Eventually, Gibbs-White signed a new contract with Forest. Following the controversy, it is now reported by Football Insider that Tottenham are targeting Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey to teach Forest a lesson – the very player Forest wanted for their midfield. “I’m already seeing Spurs now targeting other players that Forest have got their eyes on, like Jacob Ramsey at Villa. “They’re furious, they’re going to say, you’re going to block us on Morgan-Gibson White, we’re going to block you on some of your other deals. So all these little tit-for-tat battles in football emerge. It’s just the way that people’s egos get bruised. “Often it’s best not to have these battles. Without being taken advantage of, you can still make your point and move on in a positive way. But it’s an interesting one to say the least. “Mr. Marinakis is testing the boundaries again. He’s standing up for himself, I get all that, but would it have been wise to have moved on and then gotten your own back another way? That’s probably the way I’d have looked at it.” Jacob Ramsey: An emerging talent Jacob Ramsey is one of the Premier League’s young, technical midfielders. His ball progression, driving runs and goal threat can be beneficial to any team. The 24-year-old’s growth at Villa has been remarkable. If Spurs do sign him, it could be a smart move from a footballing perspective, but if the motive behind it is revenge, it could cause problems. Tottenham are a big club, or at least bigger than Nottingham Forest. They should make their transfer moves based on need, not emotion. Spurs did suffer in the Morgan Gibbs-White saga, but it would not be wise to respond by putting obstacles in Forest’s way. Jacob Ramsey is talented, but if the reason behind signing him is just revenge, it could upset the club’s plans. Spurs now have a chance to play in the Champions League and also reach the top of the Premier League. In such a situation, emotional transfers can harm both squad depth and salary structure. A manager like Thomas Frank needs to fit the right players into the right system, not make moves to respond to Forest. Tottenham now needs to focus on one thing – preparing to win, not settling old battles.
Treylon Burks‘ tenure in Tennessee is on track to come to an end. In the wake of his latest injury, the former first-rounder has been waived. This move has come with an injury designation, which comes as no surprise given the broken collarbone Burks recently suffered in training camp. Injuries have plagued the 25-year-old throughout his brief NFL tenure, which began when Tennessee selected him with the No. 18 pick in the 2022 draft. That selection was acquired by dealing A.J. Brown to the Eagles. Given the link between the two wideouts created by the trade, Burks’ evaluations have always been measured against Brown’s Philadelphia success. During each of his three seasons with the Eagles so far, Brown has earned a Pro Bowl nod and second-team All-Pro acclaim; the 28-year-old was also a key figure in the team’s Super Bowl success in 2025. Burks, by contrast, entered this summer on Tennessee’s roster bubble. The Arkansas product managed a career-best 444 yards as a rookie while being limited to 11 games. Optimism was high that, with better luck on the health front, he could round out his game and develop into a regular on offense with the Titans. Staying on the field has proven to be an issue, however — Burks missed six games again in 2023 and an ACL tear limited him to five contests last season — and when available he has not managed to meet expectations. The collarbone injury accelerated the timing for what could have been a decision to move on from the Titans closer to the start of the regular season. Tennessee’s receiver depth chart will once again be headlined by Calvin Ridley this season. Veteran Tyler Lockett was added in free agency, as was Van Jefferson. The Titans used the draft to add a pair of Day 3 prospects at the position (Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor), and they will look to handle backup roles during their rookie seasons. Tennessee entered Monday with nearly $30M in cap space, so finances will not be an issue if one of the veterans still on the market is targeted in the wake of this move. Burks is now headed to waivers, with all teams free to claim him. Provided he goes unclaimed, he will revert to injured reserve. Situations such as these often result in a release being worked out along with an injury settlement. If that proves to be the case for Burks, his Titans stint will end on an unwanted but unsurprising note.
The Boston Red Sox got some bad news in the infield. Rookie infielder Marcelo Mayer has gotten a lot of time at second base and third base. Since Alex Bregman returned, Mayer has gotten most of his action at second base while also filling in as the Red Sox worked Bregman back slowly. Unfortunately, he's on the Injured List, though, due to a wrist sprain. MassLive.com's Christopher Smith shared the lastest update on Mayer from Red Sox manager Alex Cora on Saturday noted that he's "not gonna play soon." "No new updates on Marcelo Mayer's wrist sprain, Red Sox manager Alex Cora said," Smith shared. "'Just waiting for results and see specialists and all that stuff,' Cora added. 'He's not gonna play soon. So have to make sure where we're at and what the course of action is going to be.'" Losing Mayer is tough. Defense has been a question mark for Boston once again this season but Mayer has helped in that area. With Mayer out, Ceddanne Rafaela is expected to get a lot of action at second base. That helps to alleviate the logjam in the outfield, but also removes arguably the best defensive center fielder in the game. Boston isn't at full strength and Cora noting he's "not gonna play soon" certainly doesn't sound positive. Before going down, Mayer was slashing .228/.272/.402 with four homers, 10 RBIs, and eight doubles. Will the Red Sox add another piece ahead of the trade deadline? It absolutely makes sense at this point.
The Los Angeles Lakers could make yet another addition to their roster this offseason. After a poor postseason run, the Los Angeles Lakers have been active this summer in hopes of bolstering their roster. In fact, general manager Rob Pelinka has already made some key additions to the roster, including Deandre Ayton, Jake LaRavia, and Marcus Smart. Signing an elite center was arguably the most important task for Pelinka this offseason, and he fulfilled it with the arrival of Ayton. However, one could argue that the Lakers still need a quality backup center. Luka Doncic could recruit Nikola Vucevic to the Los Angeles Lakers While the Lakers re-signed Jaxson Hayes, a player of Chicago Bulls star Nikola Vucevic’s caliber would undoubtedly be a major upgrade. Moreover, with Vucevic being on the Lakers’ radar for years, it means that the organization rates him highly. Previously, the Bulls didn’t indulge in a trade with the Purple and Gold around Vucevic. It has led to Vucevic’s trade value diminishing so much that he is expected to complete a contract buyout with the Bulls. The Laker Nation would love to sign the 34-year-old, and Luka Doncic can help in this quest. How? Well, Doncic and Vucevic share the same agent in Bill Duffy. This means that if Vucevic completes a buyout, the Lakers could have the upper hand in negotiations. The 2x NBA All-Star has given the last five and a half seasons of his career to the Bulls, but it’s obvious that their time together is about to end sooner rather than later. Adding fuel to the fire were former Orlando Magic star Evan Fournier’s comments. Fournier ridiculed the Bulls while taking a shot at Vucevic after the latter called out his move overseas. Luka Doncic has already proven he can recruit stars Ahead of his first full season with the Lakers, Doncic is doing everything in his power to bring back the glory days for the Lakers. He has already undergone a massive transformation to silence his critics. Additionally, Doncic has been actively involved in recruiting players for the Lakers. Smart admitted Doncic was a huge reason behind his decision to sign with the Lakers. Ayton also acknowledged Luka’s role in his decision to join the Purple and Gold. Let’s not forget Ayton also has the same agent as the Slovenian superstar. So, Doncic has already given the inside track for one star; there’s no reason to doubt he would do the same in Vucevic’s case.
