Europe’s elite circling as key detail emerges in Bournemouth star’s future

Antoine Semenyo’s rise from a promising Championship prospect to one of the Premier League’s most explosive forwards has not gone unnoticed, and a new detail in his Bournemouth contract could soon make him one of Europe’s most sought-after players.

Over the summer, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and several other top Premier League clubs were linked with the in-form forward. Instead of moving on, Semenyo committed his future to Bournemouth by signing a new deal running until 2030.

It was a major statement from the south-coast club after losing key figures such as Illia Zabarnyi, Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez to Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Liverpool, respectively.

However, TalkSport now reports that Semenyo’s recently signed contract includes a release clause, though the exact value remains undisclosed. Bournemouth are said to value the Ghanaian international at more than £75M ($99.8M), a figure that deterred potential suitors during the last window.

With a clause now in place, the race for his signature could reignite, and not only in England, but across Europe.

Antoine Semenyo's emergence as an elite attacker

The 25-year-old has begun the season in sensational form, scoring six goals in seven Premier League appearances and emerging as the focal point of Andoni Iraola’s high-intensity attack.

His brace and assist in Bournemouth’s recent 3–1 victory over Fulham on Oct. 3 underlined his growing influence, lifting the Cherries into fourth place and cementing his status as one of the league’s breakout stars.

Semenyo’s pace, power and end product have helped transform Bournemouth into one of the Premier League’s most dangerous counter-attacking teams, understandably drawing admiring glances from elsewhere.

While the release clause offers clubs a clearer route to securing his signature, Bournemouth’s stance remains firm. The Cherries are reportedly determined to retain both Semenyo and Iraola as they continue to build on last season’s progress.

If the reported release clause fee does sit around £75M ($99.8M), it will be well within reach for several Champions League sides, particularly if Semenyo maintains his current trajectory.

Regardless, it would also represent a substantial profit for Bournemouth, who signed him from Bristol City for just £12M ($15.9M) in January 2023.

For now, Bournemouth appear in control. But if Europe’s heavyweights decide to act, their in-form star could soon be at the center of one of 2026’s biggest transfer sagas.
