Everton could look to bring Richarlison back to Merseyside this summer, taking advantage of Tottenham Hotspur’s current difficulties.
Few would have predicted that after leaving Everton in 2022, Richarlison would be in the midst of a relegation battle with Spurs just a few years later.
David Moyes has not ruled out adding another striker, given Beto and Thierno Barry have yet to offer much consistency at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Tottenham face a tense few months as they fight to stay in the Premier League.
No matter how their season ends, it seems increasingly likely that Richarlison’s time in north London may be coming to an end anyway.
Everton News has learned that the club are weighing up a summer move for Richarlison, who is expected to leave Tottenham at the end of the season.
The Brazilian has not hidden his frustration over a lack of regular game time and goals this term, and he will enter the final two years of his contract in July. Tottenham may look to cash in while they still can.
However, despite growing speculation about a summer move away from north London, Richarlison said recently:
David Moyes could certainly use another option up front. Both Beto and Thierno Barry have struggled for consistency throughout this season.
A 3-1 defeat to West Ham on Saturday marked a third loss in four games, leaving Moyes’ side four points clear of safety with five matches remaining. It’s clear they’re still far from safe.
There are a number of reasons why it would make sense for Everton to bring Richarlison back during the upcoming summer window.
Despite Spurs’ issues, the Brazilian has scored more goals than any player in Sean Dyche’s squad this season.
Richarlison’s numbers this season only highlight his impact compared to what Everton currently have. Even when you stack his stats against Jack Harrison and Abdoulaye Doucoure, he comes out on top.
In addition to his eight Premier League goals, Richarlison has also chipped in with three assists and found the net once in the Champions League. Across all competitions, he’s made 30 appearances for Tottenham this term.
Everton News had previously reported that Richarlison would be interested in a return to Goodison Park at some point down the line.
If Beto and Barry don’t start showing more consistency soon, David Moyes may feel he needs someone with proven experience at this level. And not just experience – but familiarity with how Dyche sets up too.
If Tottenham are relegated, his price tag could drop significantly. Even if they manage to stay up, Spurs won’t have much leverage left since there’ll only be a year remaining on his deal by then.
