Everton are looking to bring in a striker during the January transfer window.
David Moyes has spent months compiling a list of potential targets, with Youssef En-Nesyri among the names recently linked to the club.
However, En-Nesyri does not appear too keen on a switch to England, so that move now looks unlikely.
Romelu Lukaku’s name has also come up again, with reports that the Friedkin Group have reached out to Napoli about his availability.
In response, Everton supporters have been sharing their opinions on Lukaku possibly returning to Goodison Park via GRV Media’s TalkingPoints.
Reports out of Italy suggest Napoli are open to letting Lukaku leave this window, and the Toffees are said to be looking into what it would take to make a deal happen.
Fan reactions on TalkingPoints have been overwhelmingly positive, with many supporters eager to see him return to Hill Dickinson Stadium.
“I’d defo take him back.”
“Would perhaps be a bit risky but can’t lie, I’d love to see him come back.”
“100%. The Everton fans would be lifted by it. Great mentor for Barry too.”
“Yes bring him back.”
“Would be a great signing for any PL club outside the top six.”
The response has been largely supportive, although there was one dissenting opinion: “Nah. Age against him.”
Everton are also keeping a close eye on the terms of the deal, and wages could be a sticking point.
Bringing Lukaku back would not be a cheap move. He is currently on £171,000-a-week at Napoli, according to Capology.
That kind of wage would put him well above everyone else at Everton, except for Jack Grealish, who is on loan from Manchester City.
Even without factoring in the transfer fee Napoli would want, taking on his full wages for three years could cost around £26 million.
So while bringing back Lukaku might sound good to some fans, the financial side could make it a tough deal for Everton to pull off. It will come down to whether the Friedkin Group think it is worth the risk.
