The transfer window is into its final month with clubs across the country looking to improve their squads ahead of the new season beginning.

Manchester United have acted with pace this summer, signing Andrey Santos from Chelsea, Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa, and Karl Darlow.

Alongside this, the club have also signed goalkeeper Kit Margetson and Cristian Orozco.

Whilst United strengthen, though, others have also acted with Everton amongst these. Coming off the back of a 13th place finish last season, the Toffees are aiming to improve.

So far this summer, the side have signed Hayden Hackney from Championship side Middlesbrough and Merlin Röhl.

Fabrizio Romano has now reported, via X, that Everton are interested in signing Manchester United striker Ethan Wheatley.

The journalist has also stated that the club are preparing a proposal and are planning to make a formal approach with Manchester United soon.

Wheatley, 20, was on loan at Northampton Town for the first half of last season before being recalled by Manchester United during the winter transfer window.

He then went back out on loan to Bradford City where he made 12 appearances but did not score any goals.

Coming through the Manchester United academy, the former England youth international has made four senior appearances for the Red Devils alongside his spells at other clubs across the country.

It remains to be seen how much Manchester United will demand for the forward although previous reports have suggested that Wheatley was told that a permanent move away from United was best if he wanted to gain more playing time.

Focus will now switch to seeing if Everton pursue the deal and are able to sign Ethan Wheatley before the summer transfer window closes at the start of next month.
