Everton have been dealing with a tough run of injuries lately, but things are starting to look up.
Jarrad Branthwaite has missed the entire season so far, but there is finally some positive news on that front.
The club have said that Branthwaite is back in light training, so he should not be too far off from returning to the squad.
Now there is another update on an injured player, and this one is also encouraging for Everton fans.
Seamus Coleman has not played since Everton’s 1-0 win over Manchester United in November, when he had to come off after just 10 minutes.
The 37-year-old has been dealing with a hamstring injury that turned out to be more serious than first thought. But after almost two months out, he is finally closing in on a comeback.
The club posted an update on their X account, showing the veteran right-back stepping up his recovery at Finch Farm.
A clip from the club showed Coleman looking sharp in training, with the message that he will be rejoining David Moyes’ squad ‘soon’.
Moyes is now said to be looking for a right-back rather than a striker, which was not what supporters were expecting.
The need for a centre-forward had been clear before the window opened, but it appears the Scotsman has been losing faith in Jake O’Brien.
That situation might change again with Coleman back in the mix. Before his injury, he was putting in some good performances and still looked reliable at this level.
Everton might now decide to shift their attention back to finding another forward. They could then wait until summer to address the right-back position once Coleman’s contract runs out.
