Al-Hilal manager Simone Inzaghi responded to recent criticism after news of his controversial Inter Milan exit hit the surface.

During a press conference before tonight’s clash against Real Madrid, the 49-year-old offered his side of the story via FCInterNews.

Simone Inzaghi suddenly decided it was time to leave San Siro despite never showing ambition to part ways with the club.

Indeed, he turned down lucrative approaches from Liverpool and Manchester United last year out of loyalty to Inter.

However, his mind changed after Al-Hilal presented him with an offer no human could possibly reject.

While chasing money is a matter of character or preference, Inzaghi neglected some common principles.

No one could resent him for accepting Al-Hilal’s bid. After all, offers of that magnitude arrive once in a lifetime.

Yet, he could’ve done things differently.

His behavior ahead of the Champions League final was unacceptable and cost Inter dearly.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri faithful won’t remember him as a hero but a villain.

Simone Inzaghi Delivers Verdict on Inter Milan Exit

Inter chiefs understandably feel betrayed by the manner of Inzaghi’s exit.

Meanwhile, the Italian manager has a different view of the situation.

For starters, he reiterated his ‘love’ for Inter.

“I’ve heard it all, as has often been the case during my four years at Inter.

“If that was the price to pay, I’m happy to pay it.

“It’s nothing compared to the affection I received from the entire Inter world – the fans, the management, and the players,” he claimed.

Then, he commented on his decision to leave.

“I’ll miss everything, even the most unfair accusations made over these four years,” he continued, “But I truly felt good, and I gave everything of myself.

“The club and the management – for the good of Inter – I believe they too were convinced that the most correct thing, though painful for everyone, was for our paths to part.”
