Ex-Liverpool Star Criticizes Alexander Isak’s Attitude Towards Eddie Howe- 'Do the Right Thing'

With a week left before the start of the new Premier League season, Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle United remains in doubt as Liverpool continues to plan to bring in the striker. The Premier League champions are reportedly planning to submit another bid for Isak.

Isak will join Liverpool if Newcastle opens the door to sell him, but the club is waiting to bring in a striker. Isak reportedly will not play in the final preseason for Newcastle, with his future in doubt.

His actions towards Newcastle have been criticized by many fans of the club and by former players. Former professional Scottish footballer Don Hutchison, who also played for Liverpool, wants Isak to leave the club in the right way.

He has criticized Isak for not answering his manager, Eddie Howe. Hutchison believes Liverpool have ‘lowballed’ Newcastle with a bid less than their desired 150 million pounds.

Don Hutchison On Alexander Isak's Treatment Towards Newcastle United

Don Hutchison made a strong case that Eddie Howe has tried to convince Isak to stay and believes the striker is doing the wrong thing by forcing a move away from the club.

Don Hutchison: "He’s got to have the conversation as a player and do the right thing. And if you wanna leave, go and put a transfer request in. Go and see how much you really wanna leave Newcastle by putting a written transfer request in and giving up all your three years money. That’s a test. Now go and do that if you really want to push through a move to Liverpool."

Hutchison understands that a player's career is short and appreciates Isak's ambitions, but believes the player is still going about forcing the move in the wrong way. The former player wants Newcastle and Eddie Howe to be respected.

Don Hutchison: "Do it properly. Newcastle has given you a really good contract. They've put him on really high wages. He's done right to Newcastle, don't get me wrong. They've looked after him... Just listen to Eddie Howe...At least have the courtesy and the respect to speak to your manager. It's just a cowardly move if you're not going to answer a phone call to your gaffer."

Arne Slot Responds to Alexander Isak Links

Ahead of their first game of the new season, against Crystal Palace in the Community Shield, Liverpool manager Arne Slot was asked about Alexander Isak. The summer transfer window closes on September 1, which allows Liverpool time to sign the Swedish striker.

Despite the links, Slot refused to talk about the player after talking about other transfers involving the club, such as Darwin Nunez set to join Al Hilal and Hugo Ekitike arriving from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Arne Slot: "You never talk about players that are not yours. I can talk to you about Hugo [Ekitike], which we signed recently and has done really well until now. We are very happy with the squad we are having."
