Manchester United continue to look for their January options, and in that context, the club has started to focus more closely on Tottenham target Antoine Semenyo as talks around Old Trafford pick up. While midfield gaps still need attention, the club leaves room for attacking signings, especially players who bring energy, numbers, and clear Premier League experience.
Meanwhile, Semenyo’s situation at Bournemouth has drawn growing interest across the league, since his £60m clause opens briefly in January and puts a firm price on him during a strong run of form. With six goals and three assists already, he keeps drawing attention, and as a result, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham have all shown where they stand.
However, United refuse to fade from the picture. People close to the situation say the club has the money to move, and talks inside Carrington continue, even as other priorities compete for focus. Former United winger Nani believes Old Trafford suits Semenyo’s traits, and that support adds significance to a chase that still feels very real.
Nani spoke openly about Semenyo and explained why he felt the winger suited Manchester United right now. He said United need players who run at defenders, carry the ball with confidence, and take chances in front of goal, and from his point of view, the Ghana international fits that picture well. He added that fans want attackers who dribble, shoot, make things happen, and play with freedom, which is why Semenyo’s style appeals.
However, the former United man also sounded a note of caution, because life at United brings its own pressure. He said players deal with more scrutiny, bigger expectations, and constant attention, so any new arrival has to settle fast.
Even so, Nani feels mindset makes the biggest difference. He hopes Semenyo would come in with belief, the right attitude, and real hunger, then show what he can do on the pitch. In Nani’s eyes, that kind of approach could push United forward and bring back excitement around the team.
“I think all the players who have the ability to move forward at speed, being able to dribble, able to shoot, to score goals, to assist and just have that general creativity in the moment would suit Manchester United.
“That’s the type of player the fans want to see. However, we know that when players come to Man United, this is totally different. It’s a different environment, different pressure, different mentality, different job, and then they have to adapt.
“I hope if we get Semenyo, he can come with his attitude, with this mentality, and he can put all of his talent on the field and help the team.”
Antoine Semenyo would give Tottenham pace, hard work, and bite on the wings because he runs straight at defenders, tracks back willingly, and shoots without hesitation. Moreover, he plays on either wing, presses with intent on the break, and keeps his level when games turn scrappy, so he would be a significant boost for Thomas Frank.
Reports say Liverpool sit at the top of his list, and that choice feels logical, since they offer a better path into the side and a settled plan once Salah potentially moves on. The Reds have been winning trophies consistently, and so it is unlikely that the Ghana winger will choose the North London club over the Merseyside club.
