Cesc Fabregas remains Inter’s first-choice option to replace Simone Inzaghi following his departure from his position as head coach, and the Spaniard is due to meet with Nerazzurri sporting director Piero Ausilio to discuss the project in London, Football Italia understands.

Inter have confirmed that Inzaghi has left his position as head coach via mutual consent, four years to the day since he was initially appointed.

The Nerazzurri are now reviewing their options for a new head coach, with Fabregas the current frontrunner and alternative options in the form of Patrick Vieira and Cristian Chivu.

Inter to meet with Fabregas in London

Inter are now pushing to pinch Fabregas from Como and bring him to San Siro. The Nerazzurri still need to find an agreement with Fabregas’s current employers, who finished in the top half of the Serie A table in their first season after promotion in 2024-25.

Football Italia can confirm that Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio is due to meet with Fabregas in London in the imminent future in order to discuss the technical details of the Nerazzurri project.

Vieira and Chivu remain the alternative options, but they are currently considered Plan Bs, as opposed to the Plan A, Fabregas.
