Marc Skinner has been at Manchester United for nearly five years as manager of the women’s team.
In this time, the 43-year-old has guided the side towards success with them averaging two points per game during his reign so far at the club.
He has also guided the team towards a Women’s FA Cup victory in the 2023-24 season, United Women’s first FA Cup in their history and second piece of silverware ever after their FA Women’s Championship victory in the 2018-19 campaign.
Looking at this season specifically, Skinner has taken the side to fourth in the Women’s Super League with them sitting behind sides such as Chelsea, and Manchester City.
Defeat yesterday to City, which is their second defeat in a row, also left supporters disappointed whilst seeing them dip below Arsenal with the North London side having two games in hand on United.
Now, CentreDevils can exclusively reveal details about Marc Skinner’s current situation and future at Manchester United.
We understand that the manager is currently under serious review from officials at the club with some officials unhappy at him due to poor performances recently.
Some players are also understood to be concerned about him as the end of the season approaches.
But, whilst he is under review, we understand that nothing is planned imminently although not qualifying for next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League would put him under high levels of pressure given that it is seen as a crucial objective at the club.
Marc Skinner is set to lead the side on Wednesday for their Women’s Champions league quarter-final second-leg with Bayern Munich with Manchester United 3-2 down after the first leg.
Victory in this tie would see the women’s side advance into the semi-finals where they could face Barcelona.
In the Women’s Super League, United have three games left of their season with them level on points with third placed Arsenal and two points away from Chelsea.
Marc Skinner’s side are set to face Chelsea on the final day of the season with their other two fixtures coming against Tottenham Hotspur (5th) and Brighton and Hove Albion (9th).
Finishing in the top three would see the women’s side go into qualification for next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League.
