Exclusive: New goalkeeper signing trains with Manchester United squad

Manchester United’s goalkeeper department is currently growing in strength throughout the squad, from the senior side to the academy ranks.

Senne Lammens was brought in on deadline day last summer, replacing Andre Onana as the club’s first-choice, winning over the fans early on with comparisons to Peter Schmeichel.

On the fringes of the first team, Radek Vitek has been impressing on loan with Bristol City in the Championship, keeping nine clean sheets in 25 games.

In December, United brought Charlie Hardy from Derby County to join the Under-18s side.

Earlier today, another new addition was unveiled, with Harwick Sports announcing the transfer of Solomon Honor from Blackburn Rovers to Manchester United.

Honor came through the Manchester City’s youth system before joining the Blackburn Rovers academy in 2022, rising through the ranks with a loan spell at Clitheroe and Atherton Collieries.

However, his return to Manchester marks a major step in his professional career.

Now, CentreDevils can reveal that not only has he joined the Red Devils, but he’s also taken part in team training today.

The 19-year-old joined Adam Lawrence’s Under-21s side today, taking part in his first training session with the rest of the group.

Lawrence returns to the club after only four months away, having left his post as the Under-18s ahead of the new season to manage Newcastle United’s Under-21s.

However, last month, Lawrence made the decision to leave the Magpies, returning now to Carrington.

With Travis Binnion stepping up to support Michael Carrick in his caretaker manager role of the senior team until the end of the season, Lawrence has stepped in as a caretaker of the Under-21s.

As such, Solomon Honor is stepping into a side managed by a coach who knows how to get the best out of academy players, with the likes of exciting prospects Shea Lacey and Jacob Devaney coming through under his leadership.
