Sekou Kone is seen as one of the best talents at Manchester United.

Signed from Guidars FC for around £1 million, he had never managed to make a senior appearance before his most recent injury setback.

While playing for United’s Under-21s in a National League Cup match against Tamworth, Sekou Kone was involved in a worrying collision; he clashed heads while defending a corner.

He was out for months due to injuring his eye socket, which hindered his development.

This was a massive blow for the midfielder, as the club cancelled a loan move for him in the summer with the hope that he could break into the first team.

With the Red Devil’s current injury problems, some fans would’ve thought the Mali international could be of use to the first team.

It seems the club have opted for this not being the best decision, and we can reveal his January 2026 plans.

CentreDevils understands that Sekou Kone is expected to go on loan this January, with Ineos-owned FC Lausanne-Sport the current frontrunners for his signature after a cancelled loan move in the summer.

Despite some reports, no agreement has been reached yet for the 19-year-old.

Over 10 clubs have expressed an interest in the 19-year-old, which was the same case in the summer.

CentreDevils reported in the summer that FC Lausanne-Sport have been in contact with Manchester United over a potential loan move for Sekou Kone.

18-year-old Enzo Kana-Biyik, who Manchester United signed in the summer as a free agent, is also at the Swiss club.

It seems Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS are using their multi-club connections in full flow now.

This loan move could be very beneficial for Kone as it will provide first-team minutes which will help with his development.
